Women's lacrosse announces captains
POTSDAM, N.Y. – The SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse team has announced its captains for the 2013 campaign. Senior attackers Whitney Boshart and Denise Johns and junior goalie Jen Chmiel have been chosen to lead the Bears this season.
Johns returns to the Bears after a solid in 2012 season. She scored nine goals and recorded seven assists in 16 games last year
“Denise is a very talented attacker and will add a lot of guidance on the field along with Whitney,” said Bears Head Coach Lauren Bruce. “Both are dedicated to the team's success and are passionate about the game of lacrosse.”
Boshart has been selected for the second time after serving as captain last season. The senior has been a consistent scorer for the Bears having totaled 40 goals in 50 career games.
Chmiel has earned the starting position in goal for the Bears in 2013. They will rely on her positive attitude and strong work ethic between the pipes.
“Jen will help lead the defensive end of the field from the goal,” added Bruce. “She is a smart and athletic goalie. The coaches have a lot of confidence in her to keep the team focused on the field, during good and difficult times.”
The Bears return to action on Friday, March 22, when they travel to St. Lawrence for a 4 p.m. matchup.
