Olschewske claims ECAC award

POTSDAM, N.Y.—One day after earning the SUNYAC Goalie of the Week Award, SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse player Devan Olschewske (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) has been named the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference's Goalie of the Week for the Division III Mid-Atlantic Region. The honor was for the freshman's play during the week ending March 23.

Olschewske made her collegiate debut in dramatic fashion last Friday. Getting the starting nod in goal against SUNY Canton, the freshman made 20 saves to help Potsdam to a 10-8 victory over the Kangaroos. The 20 stops were the most by a Bear goalie in three seasons.

While not part of the consideration for the awards, Olschewske won her second straight start yesterday as Potsdam downed Concordia University of Wisconsin 16-11 in the Spring Fling Tournament in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Potsdam is back in action in in sunny Florida tomorrow morning, when the Bears face the RIT Tigers at 11:30 a.m.
