Duffy retains SUNYAC Goalie of the Week title
POTSDAM, N.Y.—For the fourth time in six weeks, SUNY Potsdam senior lacrosse player Ryan Duffy (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference's Goalie of the Week.
Duffy has been rock solid in goal for the Bears since the season began, but he raised his game to new heights last week in two critical SUNYAC victories. On Wednesday night, the Liverpool native stopped a career-high 19 shots to help Potsdam to its first victory over Plattsburgh State in four years. He then set a new personal-best with 21 saves the Bears 10-8 road win at Brockport on Saturday.
Duffy and the Bears are now 8-3 on the season and 2-1 in the conference. Potsdam has jumped on the back its red-hot goalie to roll of four straight victories. Duffy leads the SUNYAC and is second in the nation with a .680 save percentage. The senior also leads the conference in saves-per-game with 12.55 and is second in goals-against-average at 7.10.
Potsdam is back in action tomorrow night with a nonconference battle against St. Lawrence University at 7 p.m. The Bears then host Oneonta State a 1:30 p.m. on Saturday to resume its hunt for a SUNYAC playoff spot.
