Glackin earns ECAC honor

CENTERVILLE, MASS.—The Eastern College Athletic Conference has named SUNY Potsdam senior goalkeeper Joseph Glackin as its Division III Upstate Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 29. Glackin is also the SUNYAC's Defensive Player of the Week.

Last Friday, Glackin made a season-high 11 saves for Potsdam in a come-from-behind 1-1 tie at Oswego, helping the Bears end a five-game skid. On Saturday, the goalie put in another standout performance with nine saves in a 1-1 draw at Cortland. Glackin finished the weekend with a 0.82 goals-against-average and a .909 save percentage in 220 minutes.

In seven games this season, Glackin has made six starts totaling 649:27 minutes. The senior has a 1.39 goals-against-average and an .811 save percentage. Glackin was a second team all-conference selection in 2011 and is already the Bears' all-time wins and shutouts leader.

Potsdam (2-6-2, 0-1-2 SUNYAC) returns home this weekend to host Oneonta and New Paltz. The Bears face the Red Dragons at 4 p.m. tomorrow afternoon and the Hawks at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
