POTSDAM, N.Y.—Two SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball players were selected to the All-State University of New York Athletic Conference volleyball team the league announced Monday. Junior setter Jenna Blujus earned first team recognition, while freshman outside hitter Rachel Auerbach claimed a spot on the second team.
Blujus receives her second straight first team selection after another exceptional season. The junior has established herself as a staple for both the offense and defense for the Bears. This season, she started in all 140 sets and led Potsdam in three statistical categories. Blujus finished first on the team in assists (1104), digs (463), and service aces (84). She proved to be the most dangerous server in the league as her 84 aces placed her atop the conference.
Auerbach earns second team honors following a stellar freshman campaign. The new Bear was also named SUNYAC Player of the Week on October 15. The versatile freshman led the team with 322 kills and finished second in both service aces (43) and assists (75). She tallied 202 digs and 36 blocks to add to her all around strong season.
The Bears posted a 23-16 record this season and now await word on an ECAC tournament bid.
