POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam Center for Lifelong Education and Recreation (CLEAR) has partnered with the athletic department to offer its ninth annual Winter Lacrosse League for local high school players. Two sections, the first in November and December and the second in January, consist of three consecutive Sunday sessions each. The first section begins on Nov. 25, and runs from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. All sections will be hosted in the Maxcy Hall Field House.
Local players are invited to join their fellow high school laxers from St. Lawrence and Jefferson Counties for this dynamic pre-season league. While participating in six-on-six contests, players will have the opportunity to develop their fundamental lacrosse skills as well as offensive and defensive strategies. All participants will receive one-on-one coaching from two-time SUNYAC Coach of the Year Rick Berkman, his staff and current Bears players.
To participate, boys must be 14-18 years old or in the 8th-12th grades. They must be equipped with a helmet, mouth guard, gloves, arm pads, a stick and sneakers at each session. Coach Berkman and his staff will select the teams based on players' age and provide close supervision.
The cost of each section, which includes the three Sunday sessions, is $45 per player. Players can register through CLEAR by phone at (315) 267-2167 or online at www.potsdam.edu/community/clear.
