St. Lawrence exerted pressure early and DeMello capitalized at the 8:37 mark. In the middle of the crowd, Bears' senior captain Vic Colasacco headed the ball into the left post. The Saints controlled the play for territorially for much of the remainder of the half, but Potsdam's defense and senior goalkeeper Joseph Glackin kept them at bay.
Five minutes into the second half, St. Lawrence made the most of a corner kick. Senior defender Will Congdon drove the ball into the box and senior midfielder Nick Lincoln redirected the ball past Glackin with the back of his head. The Saints continued to smother the Bears' offense until they could get some final insurance. In the 83rd minute, St. Lawrence was awarded a penalty kick and DeMello fired it to the left of a diving Glackin.
In goal, St. Lawrence senior Nate Goss-Woliner turned aside the only shot he faced to record the shutout. Glackin finished with six saves. The Saints outshot Potsdam 14-3.
