Nutkevitch, McFarland sign deals with Central Hockey League teams
POTSDAM, N.Y.—Former SUNY Potsdam Bears hockey players Sy Nutkevitch and Kevin McFarland, both Class of 2012, have signed contracts with Central Hockey League teams for the upcoming 2013-14 season.
Nutkevitch, who was All-SUNYAC and led the SUNYAC conference in scoring in 2011-12, has joined the Tulsa Oilers. The forward spent just over a season with the now defunct Texas Brahmas, totaling 15 goals and 36 assists for 51 points in 68 games.
McFarland, a goaltender, will join the St. Charles Chill this season. He set Potsdam's single-season save percentage record with .914 his senior year. While McFarland didn't play a full pro season last year, he turned a lot of heads while spending most of the NHL training camp with the St. Louis Blues.
