Cross Country: Men's and women's teams compete at Cross Country Only Championships


Both SUNY Potsdam men's and women's cross country teams placed 10th at the SUNYAC Cross Country Championships that took place at Fortin Park at SUNY Oneonta on Saturday afternoon.

The Cortland men (20 points) took the title and were paced by Nick Marcantonio's time of 24:51.5 in the eight-kilometer race.

Sophomore Brandon Bobik (Grahamsville, N.Y. / Tri-Valley) had the fastest time for the Bears (330 points) with a 29:43.8.  Junior Joseph Rafter (Fort Covington, N.Y. / Brasher Falls) was next at 29:44.1 and was followed by junior Adam Lang (Arkport, N.Y. / Arkport) with a 31:19.2 and freshman Ryan Sullivan (Rochester, N.Y. / Irondequoit) with a 31:56.1.

SUNY Geneseo (26 points) won the women's championship with junior Keira Wood winning the medalist honors by clocking in the six-kilometer race at 22:01.4.

Junior Hannah Groshner (Wayland, N.Y. / Wayland-Cohocton) paced the Bears (25:09.8) and was followed by sophomore Olivia Rehm (Grahamsville, N.Y. / Tri-Valley) at 26:13.9, sophomore Sarah Howe (Ballston Lake, N.Y. / Ballston Spa) at 29:09.6 and freshman Sarah Laporta (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y. / Sachem East), who crossed the finish line at 29:43.8.
The teams will next be in action during the NCAA Regionals in Geneseo on Sat., Nov. 16 at 11 a.m.
