Potsdam Sends Two Teams to SUNYAC Quarterfinals
POTSDAM, NY- Two Potsdam athletic teams will be competing in the SUNYAC Quarterfinals on Tuesday evening. Both games are on the road and will start at 7 pm.
The women’s basketball team (8-17/7-11 SUNYAC) will be making its fourth straight tournament appearance. They finished sixth in the conference and will play third seeded New Paltz (16-9/13-5 SUNYAC). The teams split two games in the regular season with the Hawks winning at home 70-59 in December and the Bears winning in Potsdam 66-60 last month. This is the third straight year that the teams will meet in the quarterfinals at New Paltz. The Hawks won in 2008 70-61 while Potsdam upset the Hawks last season 62-61 on their way to the championship game.
The men’s hockey team (9-13-2/5-10-1 SUNYAC) is seeded fifth in the conference and will play fourth seeded Brockport (13-11-1/7-8-1 SUNYAC). The teams split two games this year with the Bears winning the first meeting in Potsdam 6-3 in their home opener and the Golden Eagles winning in Brockport 4-2 last month. This is second straight year that the teams will meet in the quarterfinals. Brockport won last year at home 3-1.
