Men's Hockey Slips to Morrisville

POTSDAM, NY- The men’s hockey team held a 3-2 lead in the third period but visting Morrisville scored twice in the period to come away with a 4-3 victory in front of a huge crowd at Maxcy Hall Arena on Friday night.

It was the Bears who struck first in the first period when a Matt Rhymer (Kingston, ONT/Yarmouth Mariners) slapshot was deflected into the goal by Tyler Swan (Barrie, ONT/Couchiching Tigers for his first of the season. The Mustangs tied it up later in the period.

Potsdam took the lead back when Fraser Smith (Fonthill, ONT/Oakville Blades) scored from the top corner 3:26 into the second period. The Mustangs tied it and Potsdam again regained the lead on Connor Treacy’s (Markham, ONT/Markham Waxers) 10th goal of the year. Morrisville again tied it to make it 3-3 after two periods of play.

Colin MacLenann’s (Whitby, ONT/Ajax Attack) goal 4:50 into the period gave the Bears back the lead in the period. Morrisville again tied the game and then took the lead with both goals coming from Andrew Alarie.

The Bears outshot the Mustangs 38-19. Morrisville was 3-for-7 on the power play while Potsdam was 2-for-6.

Trevor O’Neill (Keswick, ONT/Stouffville Spirit) made 14 saves in goal for the Bears. Caylin Relkoff had 34 saves for Morrisville.

The Bears host Fredonia next Friday night at 7 pm.
