Fredonia Gets By Bears

FREDONIA, NY- The men’s hockey team came back from an early deficit but host Fredonia scored three unanswered goals as they defeated the Bears 6-5 on Friday night.

The Bears were in an early 2-0 hole just 2:43 into the first period. Fraser Smith (Fonthill, ONT/Oakville Blades) would net Potsdam’s first goal of the game and after another Fredonia goal, Todd Hosmer (Scarborough, ONT/Newmarket Hurricanes) would score to cut the deficit to 3-2 going into the second period.

Connor Treacy (Markham, ONT/Markham Waxers), Colin MacLennan (Whitby, ONT/Ajax Attack), and Bryan Black (Oro Station, ONT/Couchiching Tigers) all scored goals to give the Bears a 5-3 lead in the second period. The Blue Devils would however come back to score once in the period and twice in the third period to hold on for the victory.

Trevor O’Neill (Keswick, ONT/Stouffville Spirit) had 29 saves for the Bears. Pat Street started for the Blue Devils and had 16 saves. He was replaced Kody Van Rentergem in the second period and he had 20 saves.

The Bears play Buffalo State tomorrow night at 7 pm.
