Bears Fall to Lakers

POTSDAM, NY- The men’s hockey team scored early in the second period to cut Oswego’s lead but the Lakers scored six unanswered goals as they defeated the Bears 8-1 on Friday night at Maxcy Hall Arena. Oswego took at 2-0 lead after the first period. The Bears made it 2-1 just 45 seconds into the second period when Todd Hosmer (Scarbrough, ONT/Newmarket Hurricanes) and Kevin MacLellan (Kensington, PEI/Summerside Capitals) found Connor Treacy (Markham, ONT/Markham Waxers) for the goal. It was as close as Potsdam would get as the Lakers scored six goals spanning the second and third periods to pull away. Trevor O’Neill (Keswick, ONT/Stoufville Spirit) had the start in goal and had 19 saves for Potsdam. Kevin McFarland (St. Louis, MO/Woodstock Slammers) came in relief in the third period and had two saves. Kyle Gunn-Taylor had 24 saves for Oswego. The Bears (1-2) host Cortland tomorrow night at 7 pm.
