Bears Defeat Kangaroos in Exhibition Game

POTSDAM, NY- The SUNY Potsdam men’s hockey team hosted SUNY Canton in an exhibition and skated to a 3-1 victory on Tuesday night.

Following a scoreless first period, Canton struck first 3:25 into the second period when Garrett Rosenbaum scored to put the Kangaroos up 1-0.

Potsdam evened the score when Connor Treacy (Markham, ONT/Markham Waxers) found the back of the net on assists from Matt Rymer (Kingston, ONT/Yarmouth Mariners) and Sy Nutkevich (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QUE/Cornwall Colts). Later in the period, Colin Maclennan (Whitby, ONT/Ajax Attack) put the Bears up for good. MacLennan later assisted on the Bears third goal which was scored by Spencer Noyes (Oneida, NY/Foxboro Stars).

Potsdam outshot the Kangaroos 48-18.

Trevor O’Neill (Keswick, ONT/Stouffville Spirit) started in goal and made 17 saves for the Bears. Jimmy Merrow had 45 saves for the Kangaroos.

The Bears begin regular season play next Friday October 30th when they host SUNYAC rival Brockport at 7 pm.
