Former lacrosse player Zac McIlmoyle, who played for the Bears in 2008, was recently drafted in the 4th round by the National Lacrosse League’s Buffalo Bandits.
McIlomoyle had 19 goals to lead the Bears in 2008. Last season he played for the Peterborugh Lakers where he had 43 goals and 42 assists.

Three men’s lacrosse players were recently named to the 2009 All-SUNYAC team while two others received SUNY Potsdam team awards. James Mulligan was named to the All-SUNYAC First Team. Ben McCullough and Dave Blackburn were chosen as All-SUNYAC Second Team. Ryan McHugh was named the Bears 2009 MVP while AJ Lalonde received the Bears Coaches Award.
Mulligan (Hudson, MA/Carthage) is a senior Potsdam defensemen now making his second appearance on the All-SUNYAC team. He grabbed 12 groundballs and caused 5 turnovers by Bears opponents during the past season.
A junior midfielder, McCullough (Brampton, Ont./Turner-Fenton) returns to the All-SUNYAC Team for the second consecutive season. McCullough led the Bears offense as he tallied 30 points while finishing the year with 15 goals, 15 assists and 47 groundballs.
Blackburn (Heuvelton/Heuvelton), Potsdam’s junior face-off specialist, is also making a repeat appearance on the All-SUNYAC Team. Blackburn grabbed 56 groundballs while tallying a 143-92 faceoff record.
McHugh (Lake Clear/Saranac Lake) a senior midfielder finished with 2 goals and 2 assists while collecting 34 groundballs and causing 5 turnovers.
A senior defensemen, LaLonde (Rochester/Rush Henrietta) grabbed 26 groundballs and caused 7 turnovers.

(POTSDAM, NY)- The men’s lacrosse team had no trouble with visiting Morrisville as they defeated the Mustangs 12-1 on Saturday afternoon at Maxcy Turf. The Bears improved their record to 4-5 (1-2 SUNYAC) while Morrisville falls to 4-7 (0-3 SUNYAC).
Jordan Joncas (Kanata, ONT/Holy Trinity Cathloic), Todd Hosmer (Scarborough, ONT/Birchmount Park), and Leroy Swamp (Massena/Massena) all had two goals for the Bears. Andy Sauer (Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse), Corey Reinhart (Albany/Colonie), Ben McCullough (Brampton, ONT/Turner-Fenton), Garret Sharp (Canton/Canton Central), Joe Stanley (Lakefield, ONT/St. Peter’s), and Sean Sawyer (Irondequoit/East Irondequoit) had one goal each. Joncas also had three assists.
Morrisville tied the game 1-1 with 5:58 left in the first period but that was as close as they would come as the Bears scored 11 consecutive goals. Potsdam led in shots 34-12 and also in groundballs 39-27. Four Bears goalies combined for a total of six saves.

(POTSDAM, NY)- Six Bears scored two goals each as the men’s lacrosse team defeated visiting Keuka 14-5 on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Bears record to 3-2 as Keuka falls to 1-4.
Kevin Green (Faiport, NY/Penfield), Andy Sauer (Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse), Kyle Phelix (North Lawrence/St. Lawrence Central), Garret Sharp (Canton/Canton Central), Sean Sawyer (Irondequoit/East Irondequoit), and Jordan Joncas (Kanata, ONT/Holy Trinity Catholic) all had two goals each for the Bears. Ben McCullough (Brampton, ONT/Turner-Fenton) and Andy Deer (Vestal, NY/Vestal) both had one goal.
Keuka tied the game 2-2 early in the first period but that was as close as they could come as the Bears scored five straight goals to go up 7-2 in the second period. Potsdam would stretch the lead to 14-4 before Keuka scored the final goal of the game with 5:02 left in the fourth period.
The Bears outshot Keuka 48-17 and collected 40 groundballs compared to Keuka’s 17.
Billy Richards (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) started in goal for Potsdam and had three saves. Geoff Mayor (Fairport, NY/Fairport) came in the third period and had six saves. Pat Corbine (Canton/Canton) relieved him in the fourth period and did not record a save. Brett Leonard made 16 saves for Keuka. Jon Curry relieved him in the fourth period and had four saves.
