Adam Parker Named New Men's Soccer Coach
POTSDAM, NY- The SUNY Potsdam athletic department is pleased to announce that they have named Adam Parker as the new head men?s soccer coach. He replaces long time coach Joe Vaadi.
Parker comes from to Potsdam from North Country Community Collage where he was the head coach for the past three seasons. He led the Saints to their 1st ever Mountain Valley Conference Championship with a 7-0-1 record last season.
?We are excited to have Adam join the coaching staff here, ? said athletic director Jim Zalacca. ?His familiarity with the area and the SUNYAC and his success at North Country all bode well for the future of the men?s soccer program here at SUNY Potsdam.?
?I?m excited to get going, ? Parker said. ?The SUNYAC is a great conference and it will be a big challenge for me. My focus now is to start recruiting for the upcoming season.?
Previous to North Country, Parker was the Assistant Academy Director for the Palm Beach Pumas in West Palm Beach, Florida. Parker?s duties included acting as Assistant Coach for the Premier Development League Team and College Prep Program. In his two years as an assistant, Parker and Head Coach Bobby Lennon promoted 14 players to N.C. State, Liberty University, American University as well as several other NCAA Division 1, Division 2 and NAIA schools. From 2003-2006 Parker led the team as a player/assistant coach.
Prior to coaching in Palm Beach, Parker was the Men?s Assistant Coach at SUNY Fredonia from 2002-2004. While at Fredonia, he and Head Coach P.J. Gondek developed 9 All-SUNYAC and 4 NSCAA-All Region players. Parker also helped Fredonia to the 2003 SUNYAC Conference Tournament Final.
As a player, Parker is a New York State product having won 3 sectional titles at Pittsford-Mendon High School in Rochester, New York and playing for 4 years at SUNY Fredonia. At Fredonia, Parker played on 4 SUNYAC regular season championship teams. Individually he was named to the 2000 SUNYAC All-Conference Team and the 2000 All-Region Team. At Pittsford-Mendon, he was All-Greater Rochester and All-Monroe County.
Parker is an alumnus of SUNY Fredonia where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 2001 and received his Master?s in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2007. In 2008 Parker attained a USSF ?C? National Coaching License.
