Steve Pike - Head Coach 

Coach Steve PikeSteve Pike enters his 11th year as the Bears' head coach. He began his collegiate coaching career at Potsdam in 1998 as the team's assistant coach. The team began to flourish after he was named the 2005 SUNYAC Coach of the Year.

Last season, Pike guided senior libero Erica Romaniello to a place on the All-SUNYAC second team. Romaniello led the Bears in digs-per-game (4.54), total digs (4.99) and service aces (29).

In 2009, Pike coached senior outside hitter/right side Allison Pepe to a second-team All-SUNYAC East Division selection. Pepe led the team with 81 blocks and finished second with 192 kills.

The 2008 Bears finished with a 21-16 overall record while earning post-season berths in both the SUNYAC and ECAC Tournaments. Potsdam went on to play in the championship round of the ECAC event, where they finished second.

In 2006, Pike guided the Bears to another successful season as the team earned a post-season invitation from the ECAC. Two of his '06 players were also named All-SUNYAC.

For the last five years, Pike has been a coach for the USA Volleyball High Performance teams in the IREVA region. He has been a member of the United States Association for Volleyball since 1994, and has completed USA Volleyball CAP I and CAP II courses. Pike has been a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association since 2001. 

Coach Pike was invited to present at the SUNYAC Women's Coaching Symposium in March 2007. Former Florida State volleyball coach and renowned educator Cecile Reynaud was the keynote speaker.

Pike received his master's degree from SUNY Potsdam in 2003. He and his wife, Heather, reside in Potsdam with their son, Nicholas, and daughter, Brynn.

Meghan Welcher - Assistant Coach

 

Coach Meghan WelcherMeghan Welcher enters her second season on the volleyball coaching staff after four years of playing for the Bears. A three-year captain, Welcher helped her teams make three SUNYAC Tournament appearances, as well as three ECAC post-season invitations. 

In 2008, Welcher led the Bears to the ECAC finals, the furthest Potsdam has ever advanced in that event. Meghan was also a four-year member of SAAC, serving as the organization's vice president during her senior year.

After graduating in May 2009 with a bachelor's in childhood education, Meghan is currently pursuing her master's at Potsdam in childhood education.




Carrie Corriveau - Assistant Coach


Coach Carrie CorriveauCarrie Corriveau begins her fourth season of coaching at SUNY Potsdam. Originally from Muncie, Ind., Corriveau was a starter, co-captain and defensive specialist/outside hitter at Muncie Burris High School. While there, Muncie Burris won three consecutive state titles and one national title. She was named Indiana Outstanding Athlete of the Year in 1991.

Corriveau went on to play four years at Ohio University as a defensive specialist. She led her team in service aces and digs, and was in charge of serve receive patterns. She also led the Bobcats to their first conference championship in school history. She graduated with a bachelor's in health and soon moved after graduation to Coral Springs, Fla., where she accepted a position with Coral Springs Charter School. Corriveau served as a high school health teacher and head varsity volleyball coach, and later became the school's assistant athletic director.

Since leaving Coral Springs, Corriveau received her master's in education with a specialization in curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix. She currently lives in Lisbon, N.Y., with her husband, Christopher, and their dog, Freckles.
