POTSDAM, NY- The women’s basketball team will host Buffalo State and Fredonia this weekend in two SUNYAC games. Friday’s game against Buffalo State is at 6 pm and Saturday’s game against Fredonia is at 2 pm. The Bears are 5-13 overall (4-7 in SUNYAC). They defeated Oneonta last Saturday 64-59. Three players are averaging in double figures led by Cortney Poirier at 15.9 points a game. She is also the team leader in rebounds with 116 and steals with 52. Aimee Kellicutt is averaging 12.8 points a game and is the leader in assists with 50. Her three-point percentage of 47.4 % is best on the team. Rachel Graf is averaging 11.6 points and is the team leader in free throw percentage at 92.6 %. Buffalo State is 9-9 overall (4-7 in SUNYAC). They lost to Geneseo in their last game 59-37. Staci McElroy leads the team in scoring averaging 10.8 points a game. She also leads in steals with 44. Dee Layne has a team high 154 rebounds and leads in blocks with 12. Jessica Clark is the assist leader with 46. The teams played last month with the Bengals edging out the Bears 57-56. Fredonia is 8-7 overall (4-5 in SUNYAC). They defeated Brockport 64-51 on Tuesday. Katie Landy leads in scoring averaging 14.6 points a game. Marissa Gaeta leads in rebounds with 125 and blocks with 15. Nicole Calbi leads in assists with 54 and Grace Moore leads in steals with 30. Fredonia won the last meeting back in January 63-62.
