Event Logistics


¼ Mile Swim, 12-Mile Bike, 3.1-Mile Run

Brought to you by SUNY Potsdam's Center for Lifelong Education and Recreation and SUNY Potsdam Athletics.

 

Time & Place:

The race start, finish, and all transitions will be at SUNY Potsdam's Maxcy Hall; Potsdam, NY. The race will start at 9 a.m.

 

Registration Fees:

Individuals:   $25 if postmarked by August 31, 2012
                       $30 per person thereafter

Teams:          $40 if postmarked by August 31, 2012
                      $50 per team thereafter

College         $10 per Individual
Students:      $30 per Team

 

Course:

¼ mi. Indoor Swim

Only diving will be available for warm-up prior to flight. All participants will slide or step into the water feet first. Any participant who dives into the pool at any time will be disqualified from participating.

Swim portion will be conducted inside Maxcy Hall Swimming Pool at ten minute staggered starts. Each lane will have  two persons swimming side-by-side for a total of 12 competitors each flight from a wall push start beginning in this order:

  1. Female / Male 50 & up
  2. Female / Male 17 & under
  3. Female / Male 25 & under
  4. Mixed Teams - all participants
  5. Female / Male Open - all other last minute registrations.

Teams may tag partner after leaving pool and exiting the changing area. Bike shoes will not be allowed in the pool area.  Participants will travel through the changing area towards bike transition area to make final preparations to begin bike route. Individuals may pre-set a change of clothes in the locker rooms leading out to changing area prior to the start of the swimming portion.

12 mi. Bike Route:

Head down Tupper Lake Dr. (.16mi); turn right on Outer Main St. (.81mi); turn left on Old Potsdam Parishville Rd. (5.08mi). After accumulated 6 mile ride, turn around and continue back to transition area.

Helmets are Required


3.1 mi. Run Path:

Leave exchange area toward Canton Dr. and go left (.37 mi.), turn left down Rt. 56 (.67 mi.), and turn left on Garfield Rd. (.60 mi.)  Turn left on Outer Main St. (1.24 mi.) followed by a left turn on Barrington Dr. (.02 mi);  then turn left on Ogdensburg Dr.  (.37 mi) back to Maxcy to Finish on Saranac Lake Dr. completing 3.1 mi. run. 

How to Register:  Participants are strongly encouraged to pre-register through CLEAR.  Registration on race day will be at Maxcy Hall from 7:30 a.m.-8:45 a.m.

T-shirts: Will be available on race day to all that pre-register and to everyone else on a first-come, first-serve basis.
