Early Childhood Direction Center (ECDC)

The Northern New York Early Childhood Direction Center (ECDC) provides free & confidential information, referral and support services to families, professionals, community agencies and school districts concerned with children birth through age 5.

We can answer questions related to childhood development, behavior and a variety of special needs regarding young children.

We serve Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton and St. Lawrence Counties.

Services offered:

  • Assisting parents/ caregivers in obtaining information/services
  • Matching the needs of children with available services
  • Coordination of services between agencies
  • Education of parents/caregivers of preschool children with special needs
  • Follow-up to insure that children receive information/services
  • Technical Assistance/Training for school districts relating to preschool education
  • Providing resources for professionals and parents (see left navigation links)

The NNY ECDC is housed within the Rebecca V. Sheard Literacy Center and affiliated with/funded by:

-the Vocational Services for Individuals with Disabilities' Lifelong Services Network (VESID LSN)  

-and the NYS Education Department.
