Instructor: Jim Gerber | Course #1015
Learn about tasting technique, what makes wines good or bad, what labels tell you, health effects, wine-food pairing, the wine making process, and other miscellaneous information through this introduction to wine appreciation. The main focus will be to experience an assortment of wines in order to discover their differences and your own favorites. Several wines will be tasted during each class session to demonstrate differences due to grape variety, region, climate, style, and age. This semester there will be more reds than whites as both regional and varietal comparisons are made of heartier "winter" wines. Approximately 12 wines will be tasted during each session. Requirements: There is an additional materials fee of $40 that must be paid to the instructor on the first day of class. Students must provide proof that they are at least 21 years of age, need to bring two wine glasses, and are encouraged to bring food to share.
