This learn-to-swim program is open to beginning through advanced swimmers, and is being offered through small group instruction or private lessons. Directed by Coach Ken McLaughlin and instructed by members of the Bears' Swim Team, the program covers skills such as floating and submerging your face, head-first entries, and front and back crawl technique. Groups of eight or less will be organized by age and ability. Requirements: Ages 5–13.
Swimmers are advised to arrive 5 minutes early for sessions.
Registration for more than one section is encouraged for optimal skill development. A discount of $20 per swimmer is available if registering for more than one section at the same time. The Bears Competitive Swim Program is designed for swimmers wishing to enhance their competitive swimming abilities and improve their stroke technique. SUNY Potsdam Assistant Coach Joshua Jock, along with Northern TRIBS Coaches, will offer training and stroke refinement. Members of the program will have the option of competing at sanctioned USA meets by joining the Northern TRIBS Swimming Club. Requirements: Swimmers must be able to swim at least 25 yards (one length) of freestyle without stopping. Participants do not need to register for TRIBS or USA membership unless training to compete: annual registration and competition fees apply.
Please arrive 10 minutes early for sessions.

In Sections I and II swimming basics such as front and back floats, flutter kick, treading water, beginner freestyle and backstroke will be introduced, as well as water safety practices.
Section III will offer stroke lessons and refinement, swimming endurance, board diving instruction, and basic water safety skills. Advanced swimmers may be asked to move up to an older age group based on ability.

This program is designed for both children and caregivers, and will be a relaxed setting where you can come and go as you please. There will not be structured swimming lessons, rather this is a designated time for families to come and enjoy themselves in the water. Requirements: Children ages 12 and under. A caregiver must accompany children in the water. Families with multiple children may be asked to bring additional caregivers based on their children’s swimming abilities. All participant names must be provided at registration.

The ultimate in self defense, flexibility, physical fitness, and mental discipline, Tae Kwon Do, literally meaning “the art or way of kicking and punching,” is a dynamic Korean martial art system utilizing both hands and feet as weapons. Much more than a fighting skill, training develops a general sense of physical and mental well-being in addition to promoting self-confidence and control, respect, and an indomitable spirit. Classes consist of meditation, scientifically developed stretching, strength, coordination and balance training, as well as a wide variety of kicking, blocking, and punching drills incorporating the use of partners and targets, sparring self-defense, and traditional form work. Requirements: Ages 7–14. Uniforms are required and are available through the instructor at an additional cost. At the end of the semester, to those who are eligible, there is an additional fee for testing.

Join high school lacrosse players from St. Lawrence and Jefferson
counties for this dynamic pre-season league. During each session you’ll
have the opportunity to develop your skills in catching, throwing, and
handling groundballs, as well as expand your knowledge of offensive and

games with different teams selected for each Sunday session. There will
also be 1-on-1 coaching during the games by SUNY Potsdam’s coaching
