The TelCom Office is pleased to announce that on Wednesday June 06, 2012 our current Definity G3R telephone system will be upgraded to an AVAYA Communications Manager 6. As part of this upgrade all campus office phones will be replaced with new (VoIP) phones. VoIP phones are voice communication phones that use Internet Protocol to place and receive calls. Beginning April 30, 2012 Carousel Industries and SUNY Potsdam Computing and Technology Services staff and students will be installing the new telephone sets. Your computer will now plug into your telephone set. You will continue to use the telephone set you have today until 8am on Wednesday, June 06, 2012. At that time you will be asked unplug your old phone and return it to your department secretary where it will be picked up by a CTS staff member at a later date. We will be making progress announcements in regards to telephone placement and training as the project moves forward. We are very excited to be upgrading our 19 year old telephone system and provide additional features and services to our faculty, staff and tenants campus wide. The TelCom office handles all telecommunications services for faculty, staff, contractors and tenants for SUNY Potsdam. These services include but are not limited to, local, long-distance, inbound toll free and calling card services.
