Anti-Virus Solutions

For Campus Owned Computers

New Windows computers are deployed with F-Secure AntiVirus software.

New Macintosh computers are deployed with Sophos AntiVirus software.

For Faculty & Staff at Home

Avast (Windows): Avast! is a CTS User Services favorite for our home computers: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

F-Secure (Windows): Our F-Secure agreement allows Faculty & Staff to install a copy onto their home PC. To obtain the software:

  1. Download the software from: http://www2.potsdam.edu/cts/software/fsecure.exe and save it to your computer.
  2. Once downloaded, you will need to contact the CTS Helpdesk (x2083 or email helpdesk@potsdam.edu) to obtain the license code for the installation. The software cannot be installed without a valid license code.

Sophos (Mac OS X): There is a free "Sophos AntiVirus for Mac Home Edition" available at: http://www.sophos.com/products/free-tools/free-mac-anti-virus/

For Students

These solutions are only available for faculty/staff computers. If you are a student in the Residence Halls check the Road Runner website for antivirus/spyware tools and other self help topics: http://www.rr.com/security
