F-Secure Install

For Faculty & Staff at Home

These instructions assume you are familiar with installing software and the usage of Windows.

  1. Open the fsecure.exe installer on CD-ROM disc provided, or the exe you downloaded from http://www2.potsdam.edu/cts/software/fsecure.exe 

  2. Select English and click Next.  

  3. Accept the license agreement and click Next.  

  4. Enter the license code that was emailed to you.

  5. Select a Custom install and click Next.  

  6. At the Select Components to install screen, only choose Virus & Spy Protection.

  7. At this point in the install, if you have any other antivirus or spyware software installed, F-Secure will want to uninstall it for you to prevent conflicts. Click Next.

    Note: If it fails to uninstall an item, you'll have to do it manually through Windows via Add/Remove Software in the Control Panels and then restart the F-Secure Installer.

  8. At the Select how this host will be managed screen, choose Locally managed stand-alone installation. Click Next.

  9. The installation is ready to start. Double check that only the following are listed to be installed:Virus & Spy Protection. Click Start to install.  

  10. When the installation is complete, click Next.  

  11. Select Restart new (recommended) and click Finish.

For Faculty & Staff Computers on Campus

NOTE: CTS Staff typically configure/preconfigure this software on College owned computers. These instructions are provided for non-College owned computers (examples are: some grant funded, tenant, or special case computers) on the campus network and/or CTS Staff to reference. They assume you are familiar with installing software and the usage of Windows.

  1. Open the fsecure.exe installer on \\CTSTools\Tools\F-Secure, or the exe you downloaded from http://www2.potsdam.edu/cts/software/fsecure.exe 

  2. Select English and click Next.  

  3. Accept the license agreement and click Next.  

  4. Enter the license code provided on CTSSerials, or the one emailed to you.

  5. Select a Custom install and click Next.  

  6. At the Select Components to install screen, only choose Virus & Spy Protection.

  7. At this point in the install, if you have any other antivirus or spyware software installed, F-Secure will want to uninstall it for you to prevent conflicts. Click Next.

    Note: If it fails to uninstall an item, you'll have to do it manually through Windows via Add/Remove Software in the Control Panels and then restart the F-Secure Installer.

  8. If you are upgrading from a previous version of F-Secure the installer will offer to keep your current central management settings. Click Next and go to step 12.  

  9. Select Central management with F-Secure Policy Manager and click Next.  

  10. For the Central management public key path enter \\zeus\certs\admin.pub and click Next.  

  11. Next you are asked for the F-Secure Policy Manager server address. Enter http://antivirus.potsdam.edu and click Next.  

  12. The installation is ready to start. Double check that only the following are listed to be installed:

    Virus & Spy Protection

    Click Start to install.  

  13. When the installation is complete, click Next.  

  14. Select Restart new (recommended) and click Finish.
