Microsoft Office Campus Agreement

For Campus Owned Computers

SUNY Potsdam has entered into a Microsoft Office Campus Agreement license, which eliminates the need to order individual MS Office licenses from an external company each time a new college-owned computer is ordered. The license covers all faculty, staff, and lab computers campus wide and includes all versions of MS Office (existing and future) for both PC and Mac. For any computer that is funded under the Student Computer Lifecycle and Faculty Computer Lifecycle programs, there will be no need to process orders for MS Office. When new computers arrive, the CTS Helpdesk will install the software.

For new computers that are not funded through either of these two lifecycle programs, departments will be recharged $45 for MS Office when a new computer is ordered by their department. Not only does this new license eliminate processing time but the purchase price is less than what departments paid in the past. Under the new campus license, there will be no additional cost for any future upgrades and no charge to upgrade current versions of MS Office on existing college-owned faculty, staff, and lab computers. For Faculty & Staff at Home

A unique aspect of this agreement provides faculty and staff the opportunity to install MS Office on their personally-owned computers by purchasing the "work-at-home media." Faculty and staff are entitled to purchase one set of software media per year at the College Store for $19.95 per version, per platform. The media allows the user two installs for their personal computers. This license is only valid to faculty and staff while employed at SUNY Potsdam. Once employment ceases, use of this media is no longer legal under the terms and conditions of the Microsoft campus agreement. Purchasing MS Office media through this program provides for a substantial savings when considering the educational discount price is approximately $199.

For Students

This campus agreement does not have a provision for student's personal computers, however, UBMicro has several software packages from Microsoft (including Office), and many others available at student discount pricing. Visit their website at: http://www.ubmicrosuny.com/
