SUNY Potdam

Computing & Technology Services supports several palmOne (formally Palm) PDAs and PDA/Cell Phone combinations branded as Kyocera & Treo as well as the iPhone/iPod Touch. No other PDAs are supported at this time. If you have a palmOne PDA that is not listed here assume that it is not supported. Please contact the CTS Helpdesk (helpdesk@potsdam.edu) for compatibility information.

Only PDAs owned by the College receive support by CTS. Because these units are below the price threshold where the units will have a SUNY asset tag placed on them, PDAs purchased by the college will have a CTS barcode sticker placed on the back of the unit. When making a request to have a PDA connected to your campus computer, please have a copy of the signed PR with it so we may verify College ownership and affix the sticker.

Personally owned Palms are not supported by CTS with the following exception: CTS will attempt to configure your PDA to synchronize with the campus calendar software (Meeting Maker) with a time limit not to exceed one hour as a one time incident. Your PDA must also be one of the models listed below that is supported by CTS.

Currently, Windows XP Tablet Edition is not supported by the Palm Desktop software and will not install without errors. Until palmOne provides compatibility, syncing with the Windows XP Tablet Edition is unsupported by CTS.

Finally, the main purpose of PDAs on campus is to facilitate Meeting Maker and Email as mobile platforms, as such this is the focus of CTS support for these devices. Users may use other conduits and/or software but be advised that CTS will offer limited or no support.

Our current version of Meeting Maker offers no support PDAs such as the Blackberry, Palm Pre, and others.
