State Employees Federated Appeal Update

State Employees Federated Appeal Update

With Thanksgiving approaching, we all have much to be thankful for. Take a look through the SEFA booklet for a charity that needs your help and touches your heart. With over 4,000 choices, you can support hunger relief, our veterans, orphaned wildlife, homeless cats and dogs, disease research, or protect wild spaces. There is something to inspire everyone's inner hero.

Having one less dollar per paycheck may not impact you much, but the $26 ( 26 pay periods in 2014) can provide a wig to a patient who has lost his/her hair due to chemotherapy. Three dollars per paycheck can provide ongoing therapy for a child from a Hospice worker. Five dollars per paycheck can provide ten hours of home care for an aging senior. Ten dollars per paycheck can provide 16 hours of research on the causes and cures for leukemia.

Any amount can have a positive effect, but we make the biggest difference when we all pitch in. As of November 18, 36 employees have raised $6,865. Forms are available online at and take just a few minutes to fill out.

Payroll deductions begin with the first paycheck of 2014. Call Sue Jones at x2809 or Diane Brown at x2100 if you have any questions. State employees offer their hands and hearts by supporting charities through SEFA. Make your SEFA pledge today. Forms need to be in by Thursday, Nov. 21 to be eligible to have lunch with the Hefners. Final deadline of the campaign is December 18, 2013.
