SUNY Potsdam AIDS Education Group Sponsors Presentation
In recognition of both Black History Month and Women's History Month, the SUNY-Potsdam AIDS Education Group (SUNY-PAEG) is sponsoring Ms. Amy Stark's presentation entitled, "AIDS:A Global Perspective," on Wednesday Feb. 26, from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. in Kellas 106. Ms. Stark graduated with a major in photography and a minor in biomedical anthropology in May 2012. As a Peer AIDS Educator with the SUNY-PAEG, she was the first undergraduate to become certified as an HIV test counselor with New York State.
Stark has worked as an intern and assistant in preparation of the forthcoming Wiley Blackwell 4-volume International Encyclopedia of Human Sexuality for more than 3 years. During the summer of 2013, she spent 6 weeks in Kenya working with HIV+ women. Her presentation on February 26 discusses her experiences conducting HIV testing and counseling with this group of women.
This program is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Dr. Patricia Whelehan, professor of Anthropology and the Campus' AIDS Education Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org or 315-267-2048.
