The Department of Secondary Education invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Adolescence Foreign Language Education, effective Fall 2015. The successful candidate will teach Foreign Language Education courses for Spanish and French certification that are inquiry- and field-based, as well as courses in the Spanish program; will work with colleagues in other adolescence education programs; will serve as Coordinator of the Adolescence (Middle/ Secondary) Foreign Language Education program; will supervise French and Spanish Education students in regional middle and high schools; and will assist in the development of a graduate-level TESOL certification program.

Required are an earned doctorate (ABD considered) in Spanish or Spanish Education from an accredited institution; fluency in English and Spanish; secondary Spanish teaching certification from a U.S. state or Canadian province; and successful and documented secondary school teaching experience in Spanish in a U.S. state or Canadian province.Preferred are familiarity and experience with NCATE/CAEP and ACTFL standards and practices; fluency in French or another language; experience with ESL/ESOL, including certification programs; teaching experience with socio-economic, rural/suburban/urban, and ethnic diverse students; U.S. teaching experience in field-based teacher education programs; interest in active learning; interdisciplinary experiences such as learning communities; and specialization in trans-Atlantic studies.
