The following is a list of the College's current committees, their charges, chairs and reporting lines. You also may find a list of Faculty Senate standing committees on the Faculty Senate web site.
Makes recommendations to the President on Chancellor's and President's Award recipients. Membership is solicited through the appropriate Dean or Vice President for representation from their School or area. Terms are three years and rotate so that approximately 1/3 of the committee members are new each year.

Approves designation of specific courses for Liberal Arts Credit and reviews other academic policies such as Hours Outside of Any One Department. Advises the Provost on matters pertaining to academic program, curriculum, budget, and faculty. Facilitates communication among the three academic schools and libraries.

Serves as an advisory board to the Provost on academic issues pertaining to policies and procedures in academic support areas and academic issues with broad implications. Facilitates communication and information sharing among all functional academic units.

Applies College's academic standards to individual students; establishes computing procedures to accomplish accurate application; administers academic dismissal waivers; communicates all standards and committee decisions to students.

Establishes a process and time line for creation of the calendar, solving current problems and reporting to the President's Administrative Cabinet.

Plans the annual undergraduate and graduate Commencement exercises.

Facilitates communication within Academic Affairs and between the administration and the faculty. Topics discussed at meetings are taken back to individual departments for discussion and feedback.

Administers the NYS EAP by providing information, assessment and referral to those experiencing problems on or off the job, as well as program awareness training for managers, supervisors, union reps, and line workers. Workplace educational programs, problem prevention initiatives and response to workplace trauma are available to all campus employees, families and retirees.

Advises the President and the Affirmative Action Officer on issues of discrimination, equity and affirmative action. Additionally, the council participates in diversity planning for the campus.

Serves as the curriculum committee of the Honors Program; gives advice and counsel to the honors-program director, as called upon to do so, in areas relating to Honors Program administration and budget.

Distributes campus funds for individual Development Awards by collection and review of applications for awards.

Reviews research proposals that will utilize animals. The committee also inspects housing facilities and reviews husbandry conditions.

Reviews proposals of research that involve human subjects to determine whether or not the research places subjects at risk, and if so, whether or not the level of risk is acceptable.

Provides suggestions for immediate and long-term directions for the growth and development of programs fostering International Education of students on and off campus, including advice and support for programs such as new exchange agreements, joint programs with other institutions, credit and noncredit-bearing travel opportunities.

Advises the Director of Learning Communities about policy and practice, and individually acts as mentors to other faculty about Learning Communities.

Determines policy and procedures for the function of the Learning & Teaching Excellence Center. This includes, but is not limited to, Facul-TE funding grants, Faculty Fellows support, purchase of equipment, and support of faculty pedagogical research. Explores the integration of service learning into our curricular and co-curricular programs.

Works with the Director to establish program policies and procedures, including guidelines for fellowship applications and submission review procedures. Works with the Director to identify major fellowship programs most appropriate for SUNY Potsdam students. Serves as a resource person to identify eligible students who might qualify for selected national fellowships and campus faculty who might serve as mentors to assist students in fellowship application process. Works with the Director to determine strategies to publicize program activities and assist in program planning and outreach initiatives to campus community.
