Ongoing Training for Staff

All individuals working in the childcare profession must have at least 30 hours of training every two years. New York State designates areas of training in specific areas. Each childcare professional must have at least one training in each of the designated core body of knowledge areas.

Child Care Center Directors:

  1. Principles of early childhood development
  2. Safety and security procedures
  3. Child Abuse and maltreatment identification and prevention
  4. Statutes and regulations pertaining to child day care and child abuse and maltreatment

Child Care Center Staff:

  1. Supervision of children
  2. Meeting the requirements of children admitted to the center who have special needs
  3. Age appropriate developmental activities
  4. Behavior management and discipline
  5. Health, safety, nutrition, and first aid

Infant/Child/Adult CPR instruction is provided annually and Infant and Child First Aid is offered every three years.
