The 2010 North Country Regional Art Exhibition will be hosted at the Gibson Gallery at SUNY Potsdam from Friday, July 9 to Friday, Aug. 6. The exhibition will feature the work of 15 area artists. The North Country Regional Art Exhibition is a long-standing annual tradition in Northern New York that draws upon the talented artists living within the region. The Gibson Gallery hires a prominent juror every two years to select the art and award recipients. Andrew Schuster, a professor of art at Onondaga Community College, helped to curate the exhibition. Schuster selected the art from a pool of 105 works by 24 artists, all within a 200-mile radius of the Gibson Gallery. Schuster also designated which artists will receive awards for their work. The Gibson Gallery serves as the center for visual arts at SUNY Potsdam through the collection, exhibition, and interpretation of quality works of art from the 20th and 21st centuries. The gallery hosts eight to 10 exhibitions per year. The schedule includes works by professional artists from across the globe, as well as SUNY Potsdam students. An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 9. For more information, contact the Gibson Gallery at (315) 267-3290 or visit www.potsdam.edu/gibson.
