Experience the Power of Love in Summer Screening of 'La Boheme'

The Metropolitan Opera’s 2010 Summer HD Encores series will bring the most popular opera of all time back to the silver screen with a broadcast of Giacomo Puccini’s “La Bohème” at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14. Through a partnership between SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music and the Roxy Theater, the opera series is being broadcast throughout the summer at the downtown movie theater.

A magnificent cast comes together for Franco Zeffirelli’s iconic production of the Puccini favorite. The exciting young conductor Nicola Luisotti presides over a glorious vocal ensemble led by Angela Gheorghiu, opposite tenor Ramón Vargas as her lover, Rodolfo. Running time for the feature is expected to be two hours.

“La Bohème” is part of the second summer series of the award-winning The Met: Live in HD programs, which continue to captivate audiences around the world. The Summer HD Encores series features six of the most popular operas ever composed in startling high definition and digital surround sound. Shortened intermission features allow for the enjoyment of younger audiences as well as for busy schedules, and English subtitles bring the stories to life. Experience the depth and raw energy of world-class opera without going all the way to New York City!
