Crane Wind Ensemble performs a collection of work

SUNY Potsdam’s Crane Wind Ensemble will perform a recital on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall.

The works for the night will include “Sinfonia No. 4” by Walter Hartley, “Vientos y Tangos” by Michael Gondolfi, “Kingfishers Catch Fire” by John Mackey, “Suite Française d'après Claude Gervaise” by Francis Poulenc, “Hold this Boy and Listen” by Carter Pann and “Emblems” by Aaron Copland.

Dr. Brian K. Doyle conducts the Wind Ensemble. He joined the Crane faculty in 2006. He additionally conducts the Symphonic Band and teaches courses in conducting.

He earned his Bachelor of Music Education and two master’s degrees at Michigan State University. At the University of Michigan, he received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in wind conducting.

Dr. Doyle’s former teaching posts include faculty positions at Indiana University, The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and Duke University as a public school music educator in Imlay City, MI.

While in North Carolina, Dr. Doyle served as the resident conductor of the Triangle British Brass Band from 1999-2002. He also served on the summer conducting faculty of the renowned Interlochen Arts Camp, as well as the New England Music Camp.

Dr. Doyle now spends his summers as the conductor of the Crane Youth Music Wind Ensemble.

The concert is free, and the public is invited to attend.
