October 20, 2017

The National Players production of “Alice in Wonderland” will brings extravagant characters and adventure to the SUNY Potsdam stage on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 3 p.m.

Community Performance Series will present a family theatre production of National Players’ “Alice in Wonderland” on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater at SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music. Ticket prices are only $5 for students and $10 for adults.

Thanks in part to funding provided by the Maresca Family Endowment for the Arts, the Corning Incorporated Foundation and The Sweetgrass Foundation, the CPS Meet the Arts Series, which features educational and family-friendly theatre, will continue this weekend.

The National Players production of “Alice in Wonderland” evokes an Alice for our time: a precocious girl falls into a fantastic world of extravagant characters where little makes sense. To find her way, Alice charts a topsy-turvy course where every turn means a new adventure. In this 21st-century staging, cameras, projection and puppets help to tell the story of Alice's journey through Wonderland.

National Players is the touring program of the Olney Theatre Center, an Equity theater located just north of Washington, D.C. Following three months of rehearsals, the 10-member National Players ensemble opens each production at OTC before embarking on its annual tour from September thru May. Continuing its legacy as America's longest-running touring theatre company, National Players travels more than 20,000 miles each year to all corners of the country, presenting live productions and theatre education to communities of all sizes and backgrounds. National Players has performed for nearly 3 million audience members in 43 states.

“We are blessed to be presenting another National Players production. They are an amazing theatre company, creating extraordinary productions and educational opportunities for communities all across the country,” said CPS Education Coordinator Patti Mason.
