10.01.09

Former New York State Senator Raymond Meier will offer the keynote address at SUNY Potsdam’s 18th Annual Local Government Conference on Tuesday, Oct. 13, in Kellas Hall.

A former public servant himself, Meier understands the value of public service and knows how to face difficult legislative challenges and controversial topics.

Designed by local government officials, the conference agenda offers relevant information for local government officials and community members at large. The conference includes 24 in-depth sessions.

Session topics include Uniform Code Assessment, Intermunicipal Planning, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA and Public Employee Safety and Health), Freedom of Information Law (FOIL), Principles of Venting in Building and Construction/Appliance Combustion and Ventilation Air, Asset Management Plans and Workers Compensation, among others.

While workshops have been designed specifically for assessors, board members, budget and finance officers, code officers, municipal clerks, planning and zoning officials, community development and public works officials, it is open to everyone.

The cost of the conference is $45. Day-of-the-event registration is $60. Early registration is strongly encouraged. Registration includes all conference materials, refreshments and lunch.

Conference fees remain affordable thanks to the generous contributions of our advertisers and exhibitors, including the financial support of our major corporate sponsor, the New York Power Authority.
