Crane Candlelight Concerts to be broadcast on WPBS-TV

The magical sounds of Potsdam’s annual holiday tradition, SUNY Potsdam’s Candlelight Concerts, can be relived this season as WPBS-TV broadcasts the 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 performances. The broadcasts will feature the Crane Chorus and Crane Orchestra as well as special guests.
There will be five chances to relive some of the holiday magic. WPBS-TV will broadcast the 2004 performance, “Winter Warmth: The Crane Candlelight Concert,” on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 10 p.m.; the 2005 performance, “Season’s Songs: The Crane Candlelight Concert,” on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 4 p.m.; the 2006 performance, “Holly and Ivy: The Crane Candlelight Concert,” on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 3 p.m.; the 2007 performance, “The Gift of Giving: The Crane Candlelight Concert,” on Sunday, Dec. 20, at 3 p.m.; and the 2008 performance, “Family Traditions: The Crane Candlelight Concert” on Monday, Dec. 21 at 9 p.m.
The concerts feature classic holiday tunes as well as newer favorites performed by some of the most talented students in SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music.
“WPBS-TV is proud to broadcast these outstanding events to showcase the spirit of the holiday season,” said Tom Hanley, president and general manager of WPBS-TV. “We have been very impressed with the response we’ve received from stations around the country, which gives both the concert and SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music great coverage.”
The 2009 Candlelight Concert will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in SUNY Potsdam’s Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall. The concert will be taped by WPBS and broadcast in 2010.
