Local colleges learn about "Supervising a Top Performing Team Through Motivation, Accountability and Communication"

11.19.09

Much is demanded of supervisors in today’s work place as they strive to accomplish more with reduced resources, and building a good work team is ever more important. Examining problems and creating plans to overcome obstacles is essential. How can we identify and use the skills, knowledge and abilities of team members?

A supervisory skills seminar sponsored by Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley was recently held to explain how college supervisors could assess their own current daily supervisory and performance management techniques. Targeted and effective feedback to team members was practiced.  Supervisors also discussed communication styles and email etiquette.

SUNY Canton Director of Human Resources Betty Connolly and the human resources committee of Associated Colleges organized the seminar and Tedra Cobb of Tedra Cobb and Associates facilitated the day-long event.

Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley is an educational consortium, a regional multipurpose organization that fosters cooperative endeavors. The consortium oversees and supports programs and projects in a range of academic and administrative areas. These endeavors are organized to augment and complement institutional programs without supplanting them or reducing their individual importance.
