SUNY Potsdam Student Choreographers present "Reflections" showcase

11.19.09

SUNY Potsdam’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present its annual Student Choreographers Showcase titled “Reflections” on December 4 and December 5 at 8 p.m. and December 6 at 2 p.m. in the Dunn Hall Dance Theater.

The show features choreography inspired from different themes and backgrounds with lyrical, contemporary and hip-hop techniques.

The choreographers are all students who range from sophomores to seniors and have a variety of majors. There are more than 40 dancers in the show and rehearsals have been taking place since the beginning of the semester.

“I’m looking forward to performing in this show as there are many various dance styles,” said Sally Tymon, a British exchange student in the dance program who is appearing in three of the dance choreographies. “It is very different from what we do back home.”

Associate Professor Donald Borsh has guided the choreographers and they have received helpful feedback from the other dance faculty.

“I’m very proud of the work the students have done this semester. It’s some of the strongest student work that I’ve seen,” Borsh said.

Tickets are free for SUNY Potsdam students and $3 general admission.
