SUNY Potsdam President Comments on State of University Address

01.10.12

In her State of the University Address yesterday, SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher called for the largest public higher education system in the nation to “get down to business” in order innovate and advance in 2012.

The Chancellor invited all 64 campuses to discover “systemness” as a strength to expand student mobility, fix New York State’s education pipeline and deliver on the Power of SUNY strategic plan.

“SUNY Potsdam is ready to answer Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher's call to action to shift administrative cost savings to academics. We already are taking the lead on sharing services through the Campus Alliance Networks. SUNY Potsdam can continue to enhance and strengthen the Chancellor's concept of 'systemness,' as the State University’s oldest campus. The SUNY Potsdam leadership team and I wholeheartedly endorse the Chancellor's call to guarantee both access and success for all SUNY students," SUNY Potsdam President Dr. John F. Schwaller said.

“The Power of SUNY couldn't be illustrated any better than by SUNY Student Assembly President Kaitlyn Beachner ’08, who spoke beamingly of her SUNY Potsdam undergraduate education experience during the State of the University Address in Albany yesterday,” Dr. Schwaller said. “We at Potsdam are committed to ensuring that all our students take away the exceptional student experience that led Kaitlyn to her leadership role today. At the end of the day, it's students like Kaitlyn that inspire us at SUNY Potsdam to stand up for education. I look forward to learning more about the Chancellor's ambitious goals for 2012."
