Crane School of Music Will Celebrate Candlelight Concerts Sunday

Nearly 300 musicians will join together to celebrate the holiday season as SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music hosts the 2013 Candlelight Concerts.

The Crane Chorus and Crane Symphony Orchestra will offer performances at 3 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall.

"Candlelight: Around the World" will feature appearances by the Crane West African Ensemble and the Candlelight Handbell Choir, as well as student and faculty soloists. A new arrangement by Crane School of Music Dean Dr. Michael Sitton will also be premiered.

Come enjoy holiday classics, such as "Hallelujah Chorus" and "Away in a Manger," as well as works from the Ukraine, Nigeria, England, Israel, America, Japan, Finland, Germany and Norway.

The public is invited to attend. The concerts are free, but donations to support the Crane Chorus Endowment will be accepted at the door.

The 2013 Crane Candlelight Concerts will be produced for television by WPBS-TV and can be viewed on public television stations nationwide in December 2014. Concerts from previous years can also be viewed online at www.wpbstv.org.

·"December Wonderland" (2010 concert): Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m.

·"Yuletide Joy" (2011 concert): Sunday, Dec. 22 at 3 p.m.

·"Shimmering Light" (2012 concert): Monday, Dec. 23 at 10 p.m.
