01.28.10

On Friday, Feb. 5, six Crane faculty members will perform a collection of pieces by Johannes Brahms based on “Johannes Brahms: A Biography” by Jan Swafford. This performance presents an opportunity to hear a diversity of Brahms compositions in a single event.

Faculty performers include Jill Pearon, soprano; Lorraine Yaros Sullivan, mezzo soprano; Donald George, tenor; David Pittman-Jennings, baritone; Hannah Gruber, piano; and Julie Miller, piano.

The program is set to include seven of Brahms musical selections including pieces for single instrumentalists as well as collaborative pieces for multiple performers. There will be an intermission after the conclusion of the sixth piece, as the final selection, Liebeslieder Waltzes, Opus 52 will present 18 of Brahms waltzes.

The extensive program is an opportunity to educate and enrich the vocabulary of musician and non-musician alike. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Snell Auditorium and is free to the public.
