SUNY Potsdam Student Support Services Honors Caitlin  Scavone with 2013 Shining Star Award

SUNY Potsdam’s Student Support Services recently honored graduating senior Caitlin Scavone of Long Beach, N.Y., with its most prestigious accolade, the 2013 Shining Star Award.

The Shining Star Award is presented annually to the senior that best epitomizes the SSS motto, “Commitment to Excellence.” Scavone was presented with the honor in recognition of her dedication and diligence as she worked toward achieving her degree. She graduated in May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, and plans to continue her studies toward a master’s degree in mental health counseling.

At SUNY Potsdam, Student Support Services serves 200 eligible students throughout each year and provides the academic and personal support necessary to help eligible students remain in college and reach graduation. SSS is a TRIO program funded by the U.S. Education Department.
