Be Our Guest: CPS Hosts Enchanted Event with Belle and Friends
Community Performance Series invites area families to “be our guest” at a special gathering to meet Belle and her enchanted friends.
In honor of CPS’s upcoming production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” the series has announced the unique opportunity for children to meet and interact with the characters of the production.
With a special ticket reservation through the CPS Box Office, children can experience the musical’s fairy tale world on the set in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater at SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music.
The event will run from 6 to 6:30 p.m. prior to the evening performances from Wednesday, Aug. 1 to Friday, Aug. 3, and from 12:30 to 1 p.m. before the matinee performance on Saturday, Aug. 4.
These interactive opportunities will provide families with the chance to meet the characters in costume, and have their picture taken with the stars of the show on the set of the production. Children will also receive a poster from the production and the opportunity to obtain autographs from each of the characters.
“The community has been so supportive of our summer productions; we really wanted to have a chance to give back to families even more than before,” said CPS Marketing and Education Coordinator Meg Watson. “Our actors are so talented, so the kids will really feel like they have walked into Beast’s castle and are meeting each of these magical characters. It will be a lot like walking into a Disney park—but in your own town! We know this will be a fun opportunity for our cast and the community to interact and raise excitement before the show.”
Choreographer Meaghan Manor-Janovsky first suggested that CPS provide a chance for community members to take photos with the cast. CPS loved the idea and decided to build upon it, Watson said.
Tickets to this event are $12 and space is very limited. For more information on how you can participate in this event, please call the CPS Box Office for details at (315) 267-2277. Information on both events is also available at www.facebook.com/cpspotsdam and at www.cpspotsdam.org.
