This panel will address women's empowerment, using the recent argument put
forward by Facebook CFO, Sheryl Sandberg, as the jumping off point. The argument of
women "leaning In" toward their own inner resources for power will be addressed from
the perspective of the first woman Lieutenant Governor of Maryland, Kathleen Kennedy
Townsend, and from the perspective of journalist, scholar, and labor organizer Jane La
