Confronting the challenges of a democratic future entails examining the historical memories of the past. Translation can be used as an instrument to shed light on traumatic events across cultures and languages to give us a better appreciation of central human rights aspirations for a democracy to come.  Students in SPAN 308 Hispanic Readings II will do a public reading of translation work of stories based on events that took place in Chile in 1973. They will also share their reflections on a number of critical and personal approaches to translation, and will end their reading with a Q&A period.
