Using a novel approach to fabricating X-ray optics pioneered at Columbia University, his group built and calibrated the hard X-ray telescopes for the NASA’s NuSTAR mission launched in June 2012. It will detect dark matter and hunt down the Black Holes. The gaseous antiparticle spectrometer (GAPS) that he built is currently in the high altitude satellite orbiting around the earth taking data. GASPS (experiment) will survey the regions surrounding the center of our Milky Way Galaxy performing deep observations of the extragalactic sky. The data will be analyzed to determine the census of collapsed stars and black holes of different sizes.
