SUNY Potsdam promotes science as possible majors at High School Science Lab Day

Billy Pierce (r), a home school student who participates in Brushton-Moria’s Science Club, examines the creatures in SUNY Potsdam’s collection during the College’s annual High School Science Lab Day with the help of Potsdam senior biology major Kevin McArdle of Malone. The Lab Day introduces high school students from throughout the North Country to geology, biology, chemistry and physics laboratory science at a college level and promotes the sciences as possible majors for college-bound students.

SUNY Potsdam's share the holiday magic collections 155 gifts

SUNY Potsdam’s Share the Holiday MAGIC (Memories and Gifts in the Community) was once again a huge success bringing in 155 gifts to support the Potsdam Holiday Fund. Members of the residential living community were asked to return from Thanksgiving break with a gift for the program. Resident Assistants RJ Mattimore, a senior from Rochester, and Emily Burt, a senior from Syracuse, with the assistance of the Potsdam Pointercounts caroled through the Knowles residential quad gathering gifts.

Breanna Roy Named to ECAC West Women's Hockey Honor Roll

For the second time this season, rookie defenseman Breanna Roy has been named to the ECAC West Women's Hockey Honor Roll. Roy scored a goal and picked up two assists last week as the Bears skated to a 3-3 tie against host Buffalo State. Roy currently leads her team in points with 8 after scoring 3 goals and adding 5 assists this season. On November 11th, the Orleans, Ontario native was also named to the ECAC Honor Roll.

Brown Scores 29 but Men Fall to St. Lawrence

Damon Brown (Brooklyn/Port Richmond) scored a season high 29 points but it was not enough as the men’s basketball team fell to visiting St. Lawrence 90-84 on Tuesday night. Brandon Siskavich (Peru/Peru) had 16 points and Alvin Dike (Bronx/Msgr. Scanlon) had 14 points for the Bears. Greg Lothridge (Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) had a team high 11 rebounds.

Men Fall Behind Early and Lose to Castleton

(RUTLAND, Vt)- The men’s hockey team fell into an early hole but could not recover as they lost on the road to host Castleton 6-2. Potsdam’s first goal was scored by Todd Hosmer (Scarbrough, ONT/Newmarket Hurricanes) and assisted by Scott Voisin (St. Clements, ONT/Newmarket Hurricanes) and Sy Nutkevitch (Dollard-des-Ormeaux,QUE/Cornwall Colts) with 6:28 left in the second period. The Bear’s second goal was scored by Adam Martinez and assisted by Jeff Zatorski (Welland, ONT/Mississauga Chargers) and Luke Beck (Charlottetown, PEI/Charlottetown Abbies) with 8:59 left in the third period.

Bears Game Preview

The men’s basketball team will host non-conference opponent St. Lawrence University on Tuesday night at 7pm in Jerry Welsh Gymnasium. The Bears are 6-1 on the season. Last weekend they defeated SUNYAC rivals Geneseo 60-55 and Brockport 84-75. Damon Brown (Brooklyn/Port Richmond) leads the team in scoring averaging 15.3 points a game followed by Alvin Dike (Bronx/Msgr. Scanlon) with 13 points a game.
