Residence Life at SUNY Potsdam is accepting on-line applications for at least one full-time, 10-month, live-in Residence Director, available July 30, 2017.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: directly responsible for a residential area housing approximately 200-700 residents; supervise a student staff of 9-20; may supervise a live-in Graduate Assistant; student conduct; conflict resolution, crisis intervention and emergency response; administrative and operational functions including oversight of facility needs; programming and community building; committee work; participation in departmental planning and decision making. The position includes potential opportunities for significant involvement in the Department’s staff selection, training and development, and programming depending on interest and experience. Evening and weekend work is expected related to department processes and emergency/crisis response.
Bachelor’s degree and some experience in a student leadership role are required, Master’s degree preferred and previous residence life experience is strongly preferred. Other essential qualities include excellent administrative, communication, leadership, decision-making skills and the ability to work autonomously in a team atmosphere. In addition, we are especially seeking candidates who have engaged in professional development activities to enhance knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion and have worked collaboratively across various departments in fostering success of underrepresented groups and a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
